In the stories, Hairydog is a female Norwegian Elkhound. The dog who posed for the front cover is a real Norwegian Elkhound, but a male dog. His name is Rheider. He travelled from Ballarat to Melbourne for the photo shoot - a journey of about 2 hours each way - with his kind owner Julie.
